{Flashback}: Day 1

Because we do not have our passports, (we are now waiting for our visas to be transferred to our new passports), this trip had to be within the UK. But hey, no problem, we want to see the rest of the UK anyways! That is why we chose to go to Scotland.
We extended off of the bank holiday to drive to Chester, England; Edinburgh, Scotland; and York, England all within a week. (I asked Tim what this bank holiday was for this time and he had no idea.) ha Thanks anyways Britain!

This was our first time renting a car here and driving on the left hand side. We were pretty nervous, but we figured we were somewhat ready. Plus, we got to do it some time, right?
Tim left in the morning to pick up the car and drive it back to the house to pick us all up. Luckily, the rental place was close and the roads were all familiar so Tim thought it wouldn't be too bad. And it wasn't!

By the time he reached the house he was pretty comfortable driving already and overcame the shock of it all. In fact, he said it is not as bad as he thought it would be. The only thing that threw him off was knowing where to gauge where his car ends on the left hand side of the car because he is now driving on the right hand side inside the car, but on the left side of the road. Make sense? We are so used to knowing where our car ends on the right side of the car, but this time we have to completely switch our thinking. Other than that, he said it really isn't bad at all.

It wasn't too weird sitting on the left hand side inside of the car either. After almost 5 months you get used to seeing this and being on buses/taxis helped. I've also been on the left hand side before when we were searching for homes. But I took a picture anyways of my view because it was kinda funny to think about at times.

The first town we stopped at was Chester, England. It was only 4 hours away. And as for the girls...?? Well, the TVs are working wonderfully. A few new DVDs and the rest was a breeze.
Chester is a cute little town with surprisingly lots of good shopping. Note to self: Little towns close very early during the day. Between 5-6 p.m. the town is completely empty. Stores all closed, people suddenly disappeared. Ghost town.
It was alright though because we got to enjoy a quiet stroll...

where we saw the Chester Cathedral...

quaint architecture (I spy with my little eye a little two year old running down the street of Chester)...

this weasel who managed to get more money from me than he originally asked for (he even looks like a weasel!) ...

the famous Eastgate Clock...

more fun telephone booths...

the top of the clock tower...

and back to the Chester Cathedral again all during our lovely walk around the town.

We saw everything we wanted and needed to see in this town. And I can go shopping in Central London for the next 1 1/2 years so I didn't miss out there.

The girls love staying in different hotels. Marisa especially. She always asks where our hotel is and gets excited to see what each one is like. The girls were being so silly and I captured this video with Natalie's hilarious laugh. This girl just loves life.

(If you listen closely, you can hear her tooting when she loses her voice from laughing so hard.) haha

Chester was a fun city. And it does have a good mall.

You HAVE to rent a car again and head up to the Cotswolds. Stow-on-the Wold, Burton-on-the-water, Stratford-upon-Avon...I could go on and on. You will die how cute those little towns are! So nice to relive our time there through you. Good luck with fall/winter! Buy lots of those warm, wool scarves. They will save you! Btw...we all miss you here! You are not forgotten :)
